Enterprise Inns is staging an open day for prospective publicans in Swansea next week on the back of a £300,000 investment programme across its pubs in the city.

The open day will promote a range of business opportunities available to budding entrepreneurial licensees and highlight the pub company’s major investment programme in Swansea, which is planned after £500,000 has already been spent on improving its estate across the region.

Enterprise said it will “put the money in to support the right candidates, back local entrepreneurs and facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships”.

Existing Enterprise publicans, an accountant and leading food and drinks suppliers will speak on the day and there will be a seminar providing tips on how to run a successful pub and highlighting the support packages Enterprise provides, including investment, marketing and business planning.

The event will take place from 2pm until 7pm on Thursday 10 July at the Wig in St Helen’s Road, Swansea.

South Wales Chamber of Commerce membership and benefits manager Barry Jeffreys, who will be speaking at the event and will be available to offer advice to attendees, said: “We’re delighted Enterprise is investing in South Wales, and are only too happy to support its efforts to attract the sort of people who are able to run successful pub businesses, in turn creating new jobs and benefiting the local supply chain.”

Investment

Enterprise is investing in nine pubs in and around the city, including the Wig, which is in line for a refurbishment costing more than £100,000.

The other eight are: The Plough and Harrow, The Buck Inn, The Farmers Arms (Pontarddulais), The Beaufort Arms, The Manselton Hotel, The Newton Inn, The Farmers Arms (Nottage), and The Singleton Hotel.

Enterprise divisional director Nick Gatehouse said: “On the back of our investment in Swansea we’re eager to attract enthusiastic and dynamic publicans who are able to provide a superb pub experience in that part of Wales.”
