The pub operator’s Community Heroes Campaign won the ‘Social Impact’ category at the annual Foodservice Footprints Awards 2014, which celebrate excellence in sustainability and responsible business across the supply chain.
Enterprise’s Heroes initiative applauds publicans who have gone above and beyond the call of duty by making a ‘real and significant difference’ at a local level. The scheme awards regional prizes of £5,000 and a national prize of £10,000 to those that have made a positive impact. Activities can range from championing local football teams, showcasing local art, raising money for a charity or offering a meeting space to local committees.
“This is what we call sustainability working at its best,” the Foodservice Footprint judges said. “Empowerment with the right level of support and encouragement is the tool to success. Long may Enterprise continue to support this scheme and may it teach others to follow suit.”
James Armitage, head of marketing at Enterprise, added: “The award is testament to the great work our publicans do in their local communities and the support and encouragement that we give them to run great British pubs.”
Enterprise has earmarked more than £1million over 10 years for its Heroes project, which is in its third year and opens for entries in June.
