Diageo-owned Gordon’s has announced its new Sicilian Lemon gin variant, which offers “a Mediterranean twist on the original recipe”.

The 37.5% ABV tipple is available in a 700ml format and is made with the highest quality ingredients, as well as using 100% natural flavours.

Gordon’s said the new variant is set to capitalise on the ongoing gin trend and is perfectly placed to follow in the footsteps of Gordon’s Premium Pink Distilled Gin.

Ever-increasing appetite

Gordon's head of Europe Jessica Lace said: “As consumers become more adventurous with their drinks choices and want to explore new flavours, there is an ever-increasing appetite for different styles of gin.

“We have spent a long-time crafting Gordon’s Sicilian Lemon to ensure we deliver the perfect balance of flavours.

“The result is a zesty gin that delivers a twist for consumers seeking new ways to enjoy their favourite gin and tonic.

“Following the amazing response to Gordon’s Premium Pink Gin, we aim to continue to engage the interest of current gin drinkers and recruit a new audience into the category with our new flavour innovation.”

Suggested serve

Gordon’s suggests a 50ml measure of the new tipple is served over ice, topped up with 150ml of chilled tonic water before gently squeezing a wheel of lemon into the glass, stirring it in and giving the drink a final stir.

The lemon variant is available in key wholesalers now, for pre-order on Amazon and available in all major grocers from 10 March.

The new variant joins the portfolio of gins including Gordon’s Sloe Gin, Gordon’s With A Spot of Elderflowers, a variety of RTD formats and Gordon’s Ultra Low Alcohol Gin & Tonic Flavoured Drinks – and more flavour innovations are anticipated to be rolled out this year.

Meanwhile, research from CGA into major gin trends last July found the number of people drinking pink gin more than doubled with 8.9m people drinking it out of home – up by 2.3m from the previous 12 months.
