Spirit reaches two regional finals in National Apprenticeship Awards
Spirit is a finalist in the prestigious Apprentice Employer of the Year category, while the company’s apprentice Charlotte Bonser is up for the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year award.
Other finalists for the Employer of the Year award include Morrisons, Sanctuary Group, McDonalds and Nestle.
Now in their 10th year, the awards celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding apprentices and apprenticeship employers.
The regional winners will be announced at a ceremony organised by the National Apprenticeship Service at Madejski Stadium in Reading on 19 September.
National qualifications manager for Spirit Jo Bradford said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be named regional finalists at the National Apprenticeship Awards. To be considered alongside large multinational companies that are well established is an achievement in itself.
“In just over three years we’ve developed a comprehensive award-winning apprenticeship programme that has just recently passed the 1,000 candidates milestone, and we’re extremely proud to be recognised for our efforts so far.”
Vocational solutions
Spirit’s apprenticeship programme, which is implemented through the Charnwood Training Group, was created to provide a clear career pathway for those working in the hospitality sector and offer a vocational alternative to university.
All the regional winners of the National Apprenticeship Awards will proceed through to a final national judging stage and the highest scoring employer entries will also feature in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, published by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds.
The national winners will be revealed during a ceremony at The Skills Show, at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on 14 November.
