Camerons raises a glass to Head of Steam anniversary with new beer
Blue Mountain, a 4.5% ABV dark beer, was created by former Head of Steam owner Tony Brookes to mark the occasion.
Brookes was “delighted” to be offered the chance to brew the coffee and rum-infused cask ale with the company.
He said: “In all of my years in the beer industry, this is the first time I have actually been involved in the brewing of a beer.
“It was great to work with the brewing team, to come up with the idea and also be involved in the actual brewing of the product. I cannot wait to taste it!”
A ‘family’ business
Camerons has added 16 Head of Steam pubs to its portfolio since taking on the brand in 2013.
Brookes claimed: “When I decided to sell Head of Steam, I was delighted to have been able to sell it to a local family business that I knew would maintain the ethos of the group and develop it further.
“The new venues that Camerons have created are fantastic and I am delighted to see how they have developed the group.”
‘Passionate’ about the business
Camerons chief executive Chris Soley said: “We have kept in constant contact with Tony over the past three years and we really value his comments and feedback.
“It is fantastic to see he is still passionate about the business and we are delighted that he is pleased with the development of the group”.
He added: “It is great to mark the anniversary of the acquisition of the Head of Steam with a special beer and we immediately thought this is something we wanted Tony to do.”
Camerons’ Head of Steam division consists of pubs located in a few cities in the north of England, including Newcastle, Leeds and Sheffield.
Mötorhead beer collaboration
Last month heavy metal fans rejoiced as the brewery released Röad Crew, a collaboration beer with rock band Mötorhead.
The 4.5% ABV American-style pale ale was named after the track (We Are) The Road Crew, which featured in the band’s 80s hit album The Ace of Spades.

The product is available in keg, cask and bottle and can be purchased through the Mötorhead website and LWC wholesalers. The product will also be available in supermarkets later on this year.
