DRINKS MASTERCLASS
How to make a Starward Whisky New Old Fashioned
Described by the brand as a "tasty and modern take on the Old Fashioned", Starward Whisky UK brand ambassador Turtle Higgins added the easy to make cocktail offers operators an opportunity to take the whisky category "out of its comfort zone" and encourage consumers to try new serves.
Stand out
Higgins continued: "There is an increase in single casks on the market as they can act as a great first step into drinking neat spirits or using whisky in cocktails but are also complex enough for the spirit connoisseurs to experiment with.
"The emphasis has shifted and we are seeing more bartenders not only focusing on how cocktails taste but also trying to enhance the experience by adding garnishes or using high-quality ingredients to make their creations stand out from the rest and maximise drinks offerings."
Starward Left Field Whisky offers fruity aromas of red apple skin, strawberry laces and apricot jam on the nose followed by notes of sultanas, ginger cake, cherries and cranberries on the palate with a tropical and darker fruit flavoured finish.
Refreshing new spin
Left-Field Single Malt Australian Whisky (40% ABV) is availble to the on-trade from Master of Malt in 70cl format at RRP £33.90.
Higgins said: “Since launching in the UK, we’ve pushed our whisky venture beyond the traditional introducing consumers to various cocktails using our products.
"Last summer we launched Starward Slushies and whisky and tonic to encourage consumers to pick up our modern whiskies. Starward’s New Old Fashioned is the perfect refreshing new spin on whisky drinking and consumers who previously weren’t whisky drinkers have enjoyed this new serve.”
