Silent Pool announces new vodka
Silent Pool's Green Man Spirits launches new vodka
Green Man Spirits, part of the Silent Pool portfolio, has announced the launch of new Green Man Vodka.
Silent Pool’s Green Man Wildwood Vodka (42% ABV) launch is the second handcrafted spirit portfolio, following the recently launched Green Man Wildwood Gin.
Having been filtered through Silent Pool’s unique blend of charcoal from select hardwood sourced from the Adbury estate, the botanical vodka offers notes and aromas heavily influenced by Silent Pool’s local woodlands.
Providing sweet and woody notes of birch on the nose, leading into top notes of fresh and clarifying peppermint, with rich base notes of tangy dandelion and subtle bitterness from burdock root - the new serve is best enjoyed as a complement to salt-baked fish or fresh, handmade d’oeuvres.
Additionally Silent Pool’s latest variant comes in a 94% recyclable cardboard bottle, pioneered by sustainable packing company Frugalpac.
Furthermore, every online purchase of Green Man Vodka will contribute to the brand’s partnership with Tree Nation, which enables customers to offset their personal CO2 by choosing a tree, plus its planting location, for Silent Pool to plant on their behalf.
Silent Pool Distillers marketing director Rhian Billington said: “Genuinely sustainable practice is important to everyone here at Green Man Spirits, and Silent Pool at large.
“By working with Frugalpac, we’ve been able to create a fresh yet pioneering packaging that elevates our quality liquids into the mass market, but for the greater good.
“We’re wholly aware this is just a small step in the right direction; however, it is one we feel we need to make to pave the way for others and position ourselves at the forefront of change within the spirits category”.
Green Man Wildwood Vodka is availble now in 70ml bottles from Silent Pool Distillers and Amazon at RRP £30.00.
Signature Brew releases new collaborative serve
Signature Brew has joined forces with US brewery Dogfish to create its latest serve, Piercing Pils.
A 5.7% ABV Czech Pilsner, the new offering, brewed with Amarillo hops, White Pear Tea, and Pear juice, offers citrus notes with both the juice and tea added in the kettle during the whirlpool, after the boil, for maximum flavour and aroma contribution.
Resulting in the pear’s fruity complexity piercing through the spicy Czech Saaz hops, adding a gentle acidity to the pale lager, and making for a crisp refreshing Pilsner.
To launch Piercing Pils, a special celebratory event has been planned to take place at Signature Brew’s brewery in Blackhorse Road, East London, on Saturday October 29 with punk bands the Mekons and Haggard Cat both scheduled to perform.
Dogfish head Sam Calagione said: “The craft brewing movement and the punk rock movement essentially grew up together on interwoven timelines, and that is not a coincidence.
“Both are communities centred around beautiful DIY expressions of artists rebelling against the status quo and all the people who are down with the opportunity to participate. Whether the status quo is generic light lager or generic overly produced pop-rock.”
In addition to the two generations of craft brewers rock bands coming together to launch the Trans-Atlantic collaboration beer, the celebration will also feature an intimate pre-show Q&A with Calagione and Signature Brew co-founder Sam McGregor, alongside the Mekons’ Jon Langford.
McGregor said: “When you start a brewery, you read Sam Calagione’s book. I did.
“It’s Dogfish Head’s off-centred approach to beer and their special relationship with music that has meant they have always been one of my favourite breweries.
“When I got the chance to visit the brewery, try the beer at the source, and meet the man himself, I did not hesitate.
“The ideas came quickly and the unique concept for this beer and collaboration was born.
“I am very excited to get as many legends in the room as possible, drink some incredible beers, watch an unforgettable gig, and examine how the worlds of punk rock and craft beer are forever connected. It’s the reason Signature Brew exists.”
Dogfish x Signature Brew Piercing Pils be available while stocks last in 440ml cans (RRP £5.50) and 30L Kegs direct from Signature Brew.
Fever Tree Damson flavour back by popular demand
Award-winning mixer brand Fever-Tree’s Refreshingly Light Damson & Sloe Berry Tonic Water has been set to return this Autumn, after becoming a firm favourite amongst fans last year.
Designed to complement the seasons, Damson & Sloe Tonic Water replaces the brand’s Summer limited edition, Passionfruit and Lime Tonic Water, which has been scheduled to be re-released in March 2023.
Made from hand-picked damsons from the fields and hedgerows of Herefordshire and foraged wild sloes from the foothills of the Black Mountains, the limited edition mixer offers notes of warming spices including cardamom, star anise, nutmeg and cinnamon while the vibrant fruity tartness of damson combines perfectly with the intensity of the sloe, resulting in an enticing plum colour.
The offering, which is just 19 calories per 100ml, has been crafted to compliment a London Dry Gin, however, the flavours make it robust enough to stand up on its own to also be enjoyed served over ice or in a ‘Damson and Sloe Fizz' cocktail.
Fever-Tree head of innovation Ross Haddow said: “Damson & Sloe was crafted together with local suppliers from here in the UK and it’s their expertise and passion for nature’s best ingredients which makes this liquid so special.
"For me, it's everything you want in an Autumn / Winter drink. Rich, warming and spicy it makes for the ideal welcoming drink when friends and family arrive for festivities. We're so excited to bring this fan favourite back for a second year."
Fever-Tree’s Limited Edition Refreshingly Light Damson & Sloe Berry Tonic is available now until the end of March from all major retailers at RRP £1.90 per 500ml bottle.
Damson & Sloe Fizz recipe: - Fill large glass full of ice
- Add 20ml Cointreau
