Lancashire-based pub operator Inglenook Inns & Taverns has acquired seven pubs for £2.4m.

The pubs, which are a mixture of destination food sites and sports locals, increase the company’s freehold estate to 43, and are situated in Yorkshire, the Midlands and the north-west.

Inglenook Inns & Taverns chief executive James Waddington said: “These are high quality sites which are a complimentary fit to our existing estate as we continue with our quest to make all our sites the heart of the community.

“We are also confident that we will have a further announcement with regard to expansion in the New Year and that we are on track to realize our 2022 projections. These are very exciting times for the team at Inglenook Inns & Taverns”.

Looking back

In June, the pub company announced the purchase of an unnamed north-west based pub operator compromising of 20 freehold pubs in the Greater Manchester area.

On this purchase, Waddington said the business was based on family values: hard work, integrity, flexibility and fun, with an eye to the future.

“This acquisition is complementary to our core business and will enable us to realise the true value of the neighbourhood pub,” he said.

Growing estate

He continued: “We look forward to working with our new publicans, helping them both to grow their businesses and create successful pubs which are pivotal to the heart of the community”.

In May 2015, Inglenook reached an estate of 15 sites, through adding five Punch leaseholds to its estate.

These included the Thatch & Thistle in Southport, and the Derby Arms at Rainford, both Merseyside, the South Lodge in Ripon, North Yorkshire, the Grapes in Lees, Greater Manchester and the Horse & Jockey in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

In July 2015, Inglenook Inns and Taverns took on its first Star Pubs & Bars pub, the Falstaff in Southport, bringing its estate to 18.
