Molson Coors launches Wi-Fi portal
As part of a new six-month trial across 20 venues, the brewer is offering a secure gated Wi-Fi access point for pubs that stock its brands to help licensees engage with their customers, build loyalty, provide punters with relevant information and offers and gain return-on-investment from additional food and beverage sales. It said it would look to roll this out to all outlets if the trial is successful.
When logging in, the customer can access the free Wi-Fi through their social media account, which allows the venue to ask for a Facebook ‘like’ or Twitter ‘follow’. Users must agree to certain terms and conditions which allow the outlet to collect the customer’s name, age, gender, location, email address and mobile number.
This information is stored securely in the MolsonCoorsCloud.com portal and can be used by the venue to view insights and analytics about their customers.
Drive sales
Molson Coors customer marketing director Alpesh Mistry said: “Being a significant on-trade supplier that continues to have a direct relationship with our customers, we know publicans are looking for new modern ways to drive sales.
“The idea of having a resource that would capture customer data and then use this to attract these pubgoers back would have historically been left to those with significant time and budget. By creating Molson Coors Cloud, our hope is we are enabling any of our customers to have this ability.”
Daniel Dearlove, general manager at Backyard Bar, said the portal is already driving more traffic to his free Wi-Fi service and the marketing opportunities have helped him engage with the customer base in new ways.
