Neil Rankin’s egg-themed London restaurant opens
Neil Rankin's Bad Egg, in London’s Moorgate, opened its doors to the public on Tuesday (December 16). It offers a menu dominated by dishes that contain egg, in some form or another.
The restaurant, part of four-site Noble Inns, is the brainchild of self-confessed ‘egg pervert’ Rankin, who is best known for putting the company’s Smokehouse pub, in Islington, on the gastronomic map.
Since opening in 2013, the Smokehouse has gained two AA Rosettes and was listed 49th in the Good Food Guide 2015. It also received an entry in the 2015 Michelin Eating Out in Pubs guide.
In a recent interview with PubFood, two Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge praised Rankin for being at the “forefront” of the UK dining scene.

Bar offering
The restaurant, which doesn’t take bookings, has a small bar area that features an extensive range of cocktails and craft ales.
In addition to Bad Egg and the Smokehouse, Noble Inns also runs London pubs the Princess of Shoreditch and the Pig & Butcher, in Islington.
The company, which is headed by founder Scott Hunter, managing director Simon Holroyd and Rankin, is currently in the process of converting the Hole in the Wall, in Chiswick, into a second Smokehouse. It is due to open in January.
