Midlands pub/bar operators John Molnar and Matt Saunders have opened a new pub which is selling furniture.

Matt Saunders, who founded the Fat Cat Group and Bluu Group and also owns the Candy Stripe bar in Leicester and John Molnar, managing director of Moleface Pub Company, have opened the Queen of Bradgate in Leicester city centre.

The pub has a strapline of ‘eat, drink, furnish’ and offers the customers the chance to buy furniture on display at the site or order bespoke pieces made in the UK.

The site is acting as a living showroom and all the furniture has a price tag attached.  Items include dining tables and seating, lighting, mirrors, ice buckets, mugs and dining ware.

Customers can either consult with the on-hand interiors team about the bespoke furniture ranges or purchase items directly off the pub floor and wall. Items can also be and purchased online at the pub’s website and an interior design service is also available.

Saunders said: “What a great way to shop for furnishings – with a glass of wine or a cask ale in one hand and a sharing platter in front of you!”

From 1979 to 1999 the building traded as a furniture store.

The pub’s food offer has been created by chef Molnar and is in the style of an English brasserie and bar.  Molnar's Moleface Pub Company operates four pubs in Nottinghamshire and fish and chip shop the Cod's Scallops.

Dishes range from informal sharing plates, a selection of dips and local bread, open sourdough sandwiches, a salad or fresh fish, burgers or locally sourced meat dishes.  Salads are served in jars and pies made in mugs and tins.
