iTradeNetwork, the owners and operators of online ordering website barbox.com, has closed the service, replacing it with individual supplier websites that it claims will provide customers with “an improved and more tailored ordering experience”.

barbox.com features stock from suppliers across the hospitality industry, including Molson Coors and Heineken, but iTradeNetwork said that all of its customers will be able to order from all of their current suppliers via the new individual websites, and those ordering from Molson Coors can use their existing login details.

It confirmed that customers will have to login separately to each of its suppliers websites, if it buys stock from several companies, but said its eProcurement system called Multiple Operator Portal, which has a portfolio of 60 different wholesalers and suppliers, is available for those that want the convenience of being able to order across a range of suppliers in one system.

Migration

It added it has already started migrating customers onto the suppliers’ websites and all customers will be sent information about how to continue ordering from their chosen supplier before barbox.com closes at the end of April.

In the last six months, around 1,250 pubs ordered online via barbox.com.

Alex Walters, iTradeNetwork’s European sales director said: “As online ordering has become the norm for more hospitality operators the expectation of what an e-commerce website should offer in terms of design and functionality has been significantly raised.

“iTradeNetwork has been working in the food and drink industry for many years and have created the ‘Storefronts’ platform to be the leading solution for  suppliers and wholesalers who want to offer their customers the highest levels of customer experience.”
