Running Horse: re-opening in Mayfair under new ownership
The Running Horse in Mayfair reopens tomorrow (22 October) under the ownership of James Chase of Chase Distillery.

Chase has taken on the pub with ex-bar director of Sketch Dominic Jacobs and refurbished it taking inspiration from ‘New York City bar of the moment Dead Rabbit Bar’.

The food will be sourced from the UK and the bar will retain a British feel with a horse racing theme from the food to the decor.

An upstairs bar, named the Whip, will open on the first floor. Sticking the theme it will be upholstered in racing jockey silks with several references to the Kentucky Derby. The bar will focus on the julep, seen as the favoured drink of the Derby, with a julep menu all served in pewter tins.

MasterChef: the Professionals 2010 quarter-finalist Andrew Justice will head up the kitchen, having moved from Lockhart. His menu will change regularly and will feature dishes such as a chopped burger with jockey whips (chips) and Jacob’s Ladder beef ribs.

A revolving selection of beers and Chase spirits will be available at the bar on optics.

Chase hopes the bar will be ‘game-changing - a new experience for London’.
