TV chef Tim Bilton opens first freehold pub in Yorkshire
He previously ran Enterprise Inns lease the Butchers Arms in Hepworth, West Yorkshire, which is less than a mile from new site the Spiced Pear, which is also
in Hepworth.
The 120-cover former restaurant is twice the size of the Butchers Arms and has been handed a £70,000 refurbishment.
A vintage tearoom offering a Yorkshire menu for £13 for two courses will feature at the outlet, along with an open-plan kitchen, and Bilton has approved plans to add bedrooms at a later date.
There is a bar area for people wanting to drink without eating, as well as a fine-dining restaurant that will offer a tasting menu.
Other plans include adding a kitchen garden, raising livestock on-site, including pigs, chicken and sheep, and opening a farm shop.
"I want to step the food up a gear at the Spiced Pear," said Bilton. "We’re looking to put three to four high-end boutique bedrooms in, starting in September, so they should be done by — or soon after — Christmas. I can see us being here for 20 years."
Bilton’s Butchers Arms staff have moved to the new site with him.
Meanwhile, his own TB-branded sauces and chutneys are going strong and will be on sale at the new site after a tweak to the design to remove Butchers Arms branding.
