Guild of Master Victuallers' former leading member Brian Rees has died
Brian Rees, the former leading member of the Guild of Master Victuallers (GMV), passed away yesterday after a period of illness.

As well as being trustee at the GMV, Rees was most recently on the board of the Pubs Independent Rent Review Scheme.

Bill Sharp of GMV said: “I’m gutted. His time has come and it’s very sad.

“I had visited him in hospital, and he rang me to say that he will be home soon.”

Federation of Licensed Victuallers Associations (FLVA) president David Hawksworth added: “It’s an extremely sad loss of a gentleman who was dedicated to the trade who will be sincerely missed.

“We would like to pass on our condolences to his family and let them know that we are here for them.

“Maybe Brian is up there raising a pint about the two of us (Bill Sharp) meeting  to discuss [the relationship between the FLVA and GMV] going forward.”

Licensed Trade Charity chief executive James Brewster said: "Brian will be sadly missed, not only by his colleagues from the trade, but also for the many people he assisted under the umbrella of the LTC”.
