Oxfordshire pub reopens after it was saved from closure by local community
An Oxfordshire pub that was saved from closure by its own customers opened its doors last week.

The Seven Stars, Marsh Baldon, which has served generations of villagers, cricket players and visitors from nearby Oxford, looked set to close a few months ago but was rescued after locals raised £158,000 after buying shares in the premises.

Villagers from Marsh Baldon, Toot Baldon, Nuneham Courtenay and further afield set up a company to buy the pub from current owner David Harding and leased it to experienced publican Matt Ford. Volunteers also worked around the clock with professionals to refurbish the new look drinking hole.

“It’s been amazing,” Baldons and Nuneham Community Society chairman Liz Jones said. “Everyone pulled together as a community and we have so many to thank. Some put money in, others hard work. Thanks to everyone working together we have our pub back.”
