No weirdy beardies in my pub please
Snifter's award for Grumpy Licensee of the Week goes to Jim Hardie of the Blue Bell in York.

Jim made the hallowed pages of the Daily Mail last week over his policy towards 'non-regulars' the historic pub.

The Blue Bell will now not be considered for The Good Beer Guide's 2014 edition after staging 'locals only' nights, apparently in breach of the CAMRA guide's admissions policy.

Jim is reported as saying that he would rather look after 'real regulars' and that it would prevent 'weirdy beardies' visiting the pub and 'asking to sample seven beers, then buying a half'.

Angry CAMRA members have reportedly visited the pub and ripped their membership cards up over the dispute.

"None of the regulars has complained and the only people moaning are the stag and hen parties who just want to order 20 pints of lager and throw up in my toilet," he says.

Jim has taken news of his exclusion pretty well though, despite being a regular fixture in the guide for many years. "As far as I'm concerned it's a well-run pub and I serve good beer so it's up to CAMRA if they want to chuck me out the guide."
