Newco b Stockbridge opens second pub
Lucy Townsend, who also runs the Kings Arms at Lockerley, has taken on the freehold with two business partners and overseen a major £150,000 refurbishment. The seven bedrooms have been refurbished along with the rest of the pub and new chef Alan Haughie has been recruited to run the kitchen.
His menu is of modern British food despite a background in French and European cooking having begun his career apprenticed to Anton Edelman at the Savoy. He has also worked at St Quentins Brasserie, Pattersonsof Mayfair and Hotel Terravina in the New Forest.
Breakfast lunch and dinner will be served at the pub with brunch including dishes such as smoked haddock, wilted spinach and poached egg with fresh juices and homemad ebread. Roast squash, baby gem and almonds; Dorset crab on toast; and potted shrimp will be on offer at lunch while the dinner menu will include lemon-scented fish crumble with seasonal greens; and braised pork belly with celariac puree and white beans. Desserts include homade ice creams and sorbets and a classic chocolate fondant.
Stockbridge is famous for its fly fishing and guests to the pub can fish from the grounds with the kitchen happy to gut, clean and cook anything that may be caught.
Townsend previously worked for The Miller Collection as chief operation officer and director and operates the two piubs under company name Newco b Stockbridge.
