Horley & District Pubwatch Scheme in Surrey is to launch a Pubwatch Ping Pong project next month to show how pubs and clubs can help to support their local area.

The pubwatch scheme came up with the idea in November 2011 as a means of bringing the local community together, and has now raised enough funds to make the project a reality.

Six table tennis tables will be installed in public spaces across Horley and surrounding villages on 21 March, with the official launch taking place on 30 March at the Horley Recreation Ground.

Great Britain’s number-one female table tennis player Joanna Parker will be testing out the tables.

The scheme has been supported by local authorities, the English Table Tennis Association and local businesses. In addition to funds from pubwatch members, money came from Sport England, the Gatwick Airport Community Trust and Surrey County Councillors.
