New chief gives BII a sporting chance

Tim Hulme: football legend
Tim Hulme: football legend
It seems new BII (British Institute of Innkeeping) chief exec Tim Hulme is something of a dark horse.

As well as laying claim to successful careers in business and education, it seems he can add semi-professional sportsman to his CV.

A certain Tim Hulme once plied his trade as a journeyman goal machine at Folkestone, Dover Athletic, Hythe Town, Crawley Town and Sittingbourne before taking over as player-manager at Folkestone Invicta FC for 1994-95.

Perhaps his most glorious footie moment was in 1991-2, in then-non-league Crawley Town’s FA Cup run to the third round proper, when they played local rivals Brighton & Hove Albion in front of 18,301 spectators at the Goldstone ground.

Sadly Hulme could not repeat his goal-scoring heroics from earlier and Crawley lost 5–0.

Let’s hope he can bring an end to the BII’s recent run of losses.
