Camerons Brewery is set to install a new system in its pubs that allows licensees to show adverts during football matches and “recoup some of the fees for paid TV packages”.

The ivuTV platform is an interactive tool that allows adverts to be shown across the bottom or along the side on a TV screen. It offers a range of interactive options such as quiz games that customers can link to through their smartphones.

The company behind the new facility, Challenger Technologies, said that sharing the screen with sports coverage will help engage customers and encourage pubs to sell advertising space.

Camerons Brewery director and general manager Chris Soley said: “This brings a whole new dimension to watching TV in the pub. The opportunities for greater engagement with our audience and for pubs to monetise their TV screens are very important. The cost of TV packages is one of the largest outlays most pubs have, and this platform offers a range of options for recouping some of that cost and adding further returns on showing live sport.”
