Enterprise Inns reveals winners of inaugural Community Hero Awards
Enterprise Inns has unveiled the 18 regional winners for their inaugural Community Hero Awards.

The awards were created this year to honour licensees who have made inspiring contributions to their community. A national winner will be selected from these 18 regional winners and will be announced at a special awards ceremony taking place on 27 September 2012.

The final 18 were selected by a judging panel of leading industry figures, including Peter  Thomas, chief executive of the BII, Gary Gilchrist, chairman of the North Hayes Pub Watch and a Publican and John Longden,
chairman of The Pub Is The Hub.  Enterprise Inns commercial director, Ed Cottrell, and regional manager, Michael Ekberg were also on the judging panel.
The 18 regional winners are:

  • Lion Hotel, Treorchy
  • The Arion, Southport
  • The Castle Hotel, Southend on Sea
  • The Hare Inn, Linslade
  • The Three Crowns, Bushey
  • The Swan, West Wickham
  • The Nightingale, Huddersfield
  • Myrtle Tavern, Meanwood
  • The Hinds Head, Stockport
  • The Hastings Hill, Sunderland
  • The Cross Keys, Fulstow
  • The Rose in June, Portsmouth
  • Six Bells, Northfleet
  • The White Lion, Alcester
  • The Globe Inn, Chagford
  • The Rock Inn, Brighton
  • Dog And Fox, Bradford On Avon
  • Plough Inn, Wellington

Each Regional Winner has won £5,000 to help further fund and support their community work.
Longden, said: “I think the most wonderful thing is the wide range of employment, jobs and just other simple things that Publicans do in the communities to improve not only the heart and soul of their communities, but actually benefit the wider national community. I think that has really come through in all the examples I have had to judge today.”
