The British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) is to introduce a range of industry awards at its annual dinner.

These awards will be judged by leading experts from the industry, media and political arena - with the panels to be announced soon. Entering the awards is open to all member companies of the BBPA, with entries due by 30 June.

Three awards will be granted to BBPA member companies:

Beer Champion 2012: This award looks to highlight companies which have successfully sought to promote, improve and celebrate beer as a category. The judges will consider the full range of deliverables which are worthy of being deemed a beer champion – from high quality advertising to improved social responsibility, environmental awareness to commercial innovation.

Pub Champion 2012:  The judges will be looking for examples of effective investment in pubs, whether that is in physical improvements to the pub estate, engagement in the social responsibility agenda, or investment in people.

Heart of the Community Award: The judges are looking for a company which - through their own corporate initiatives or leading-edge partnerships has demonstrated a proven commitment to their local community.

The Chairman’s Award:  The chairman’s award will be given to an individual  who has made a telling contribution to the industry over the long term.

BBPA chief executive Brigid Simmonds said:  “With these new awards, we are very excited to be recognising the brilliant work BBPA member companies do in fostering innovation in the key British industry that is the beer and pub sector. It will certainly bring a new dimension to the evening, and we are really looking forward to receiving entries.”
