Corney & Barrow, the City of London-based wine bar operator, is to rebrand its entire estate as C&B Bars over the next three years and launch a new concept aimed at transport hubs this June called C&B Cabin.

The evolution of the brand will begin with its site in Mason’s Avenue, which will reopen in May after a £1m overhaul.

It’s understood the group will also look to take the C&B Bar concept to other financial districts around the world, possibly starting next year with Hong Kong, where it already has a wine merchant operation.

In June this year, the firm will open its first site under its new C&B Cabin format, at Waterloo Station. It plans to roll out the new 1,000 to 2,500sq ft concept to stations and airports at the rate of two sites a year.

The group, led by Lucy Knowles, is also to open a second outlet next year under its Terrace, food-led brand.

The company believes the concept, launched last year with the opening of Devonshire Terrace, has further potential beyond the City in locations such as Mayfair and Chelsea.

Knowles said: “The Corney & Barrow wine merchant business has been going since 1780 so it has great heritage but we want to be here for the long term. We look up to brands like Barbour that have that history but still manage to stay current.”
