Tennents announces price rises
Tennent Caledonian is set to increase the price of its lager by £9.98 per barrel, and £9.99 on Magners Golden Draught – equivalent to a 2.2% rise.

The change, which equates to an extra 3.5p per pint of Tennents Lager, will take effect from 5 March 2012.

There will be no increase in the wholesale list price of the recently launched Caledonia Best in 2012.

However, there will also be an increase in the wholesale list price of AB Inbev brands by 5.6% on a duty inclusive basis.

The brewery has committed to this being the only increase in its portfolio this year.

Tennent Caledonian sales managing director John Gilligan: “We recognise that these are tough times for the licensed trade and we will continue to support and invest in the trade as much as possible.

“We continue to focus on cost management within our business and our increase on Tennent Caledonian brands at 2.2% is significantly below the published rate of inflation and the lowest increase of any of the major brewers announced to date.”
