Davies: offer to match first year's ALMR membership with training
Liverpool-based pub and bar operators Central Bars, Baa Bar, Pax Leisure and Ice Bars are the latest to join the Association for Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR).

It comes after CPL Training promoted ALMR membership by matching the first year’s cost of ALMR membership with free training.

“This is an unconditional offer to new members of ALMR,” said CPL Training’s chief executive and ALMR council member Daniel Davies.

“The training can be face-to-face, online or a mixture of the two. We’ll agree the details of the training provided with each individual operator.

He added: “We’re delighted to have recruited Central Bars, Baa Bar, Pax Leisure and Ice Bars to ALMR. There is growing awareness amongst operators of the important work ALMR engages in on their behalf.”

ALMR chief executive Nick Bish said: “It’s very good indeed to have no fewer than four Merseyside companies joining the Association. Liverpool has a vibrant bar scene and ALMR is looking forward to supporting that success.

“CPL’s offer of training matched to new operators’ membership fee is both imaginative and generous; it shows how this industry is really joined up and mutually supporting.”

Baa Bar managing director Elaine Clarke said: “As a small growing business, we welcome the help and support that ALMR will provide particularly with big issues that concern not only our own business but the industry as a whole.

“Too often as independent licensed retailers we become focused on competing with each other on a local level whereas ALMR can provide one voice that can combat some of the key issues that affect the long term health of the industry.”

Last week, JD Wetherspoon also joined the ALMR, bringing it to 96 member companies operating between them 10,423 outlets.
