British Pub Week: Plan now
British Pub Week: Plan now
Licensees have been given an added incentive to participate in British Pub Week, which will take place from 28 October to 6 November.

The first 200 pubs to register will receive a Hobgoblin Halloween Promotional kit, whilst the pubs with the best ideas will be entered into a draw to receive one of several prizes, including signed celebrity cookbooks from chefs supporting the initiative.

They will then receive a welcome pack and some posters to pop up in the pub to let customers know what events they have lined up for the week.

  • All licensees participating in the week are encouraged to email punagryyrq@ovv.bet with their name, pub and address, and details of anything exciting they are doing for the week.

Get planning

With the event now less than two weeks away, pubs are advised to plan their events now, and some pubs have already done this.

Elisia Baldev, the new manager at the California Inn, Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, will kick start celebrations for British Pub Week with a disco on Friday 28 October, followed by a Halloween Party on Saturday 29 October.

Keighley, 22, recently took over the pub and has had to give it a full refurbishment before reopening.

“When we first went into the pub it stunk of cats and all the furniture was stolen right down to the bottle coolers behind the bar”, saidd Keighly. She added: “I knew I had my hands full”.

Local MP Mike Wood will also be attending the pub on Thursday 3 November to pour a pint behind the bar. Licensees have been urged to get their MPs down the pub to pull pints so they can brief them on the benefits of a VAT cut for the pub sector, while reminding them of the unique role pubs play.

Meanwhile, the Leopard pub, in Tutbuty, near Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, is offering guests a free buffet on their British Pub Week launch night on 28 October, with a whole host of events to follow throughout the week.
