Ye Olde Cider Bar wins national title
The news comes as CAMRA kicked off its national Cider and Perry Month celebrations, which take place during October.
Ye Olde Cider Bar is recognised as one of only a handful of cider houses remaining in Britain and was previously owned by a series of cider-making families.
The pub serves 20 to 25 real ciders and perries at any one time and has never held a licence to sell beer or spirits. Regular ciders and perries come from the likes of Winkleigh, Thatchers, and Broadoak. Licensee Richard Knibbs has run the pub since the early 1970s.
Meanwhile, more than 1,000 pubs have signed up to CAMRA’s cider pub accreditation scheme.
The scheme was launched in 2009 to help increase the visibility and trade of pubs serving real cider and perry. They are signed up to the accreditation initiative and are offered free promotional material.
