Tokyo Industries, the nightclub operator led by Aaron Mellor, will open a new site in Lincoln later this year, after carrying out a circa £1.5m investment to convert the town's former Constitutional Club into a late-night venue.

The company, which owns 20 nightclub venues across the UK, is set to transform the Grade II-listed building that dates back to the 1890s, with an opening set for the August bank holiday.

Its plans for the former dance hall and debating chamber include a restaurant, a rooftop terrace, a 280-capacity live venue in the basement and a 1,000-capacity club.

It is thought that the new site will trade under the company's Tokyo brand.

Tokyo sites already trade in Newcastle, Huddersfield, Bradford and Oldham. The company acquired Tru nightclub in York from Luminar last September and has since also converted it to the Tokyo brand.
