Ex-chef launches order and reserve app
An ex-chef has launched an iPhone app that enables customers to order food, reserve tables and receive promotions.
Andy Evans was a chef for 24 years and worked in a number of chain hotels and rosette restaurants before setting up Chylled Consultancy in 2009.
The service includes marketing and recruitment for pubs, restaurants and small hotels, which led Evans to the development of the app, a small programme downloadable to Apple's iPhone.
The app allows people to view and place orders, book rooms or tables and use promotional codes when ordering.
Orders and bookings are received into the control panel via email and text message, collecting booker information to be stored in the venues' databases.
The booking function can be updated to show fully booked times and broken down to show management the quietest times, highlighted the times when a promotion could be of use.
"As a chef I have always tried to be innovative and encouraged pre-ordering for large groups or those on a tight schedule," said Evans.
"This often wasn't possible in certain venues but I was certain that there was an easy solution out there.
"After searching the web it quickly became apparent that several developers had the same sort of idea but were aiming for a particular target market such as takeaways or restaurants, with no option having been made available for pubs for example.
"Chylled Apps is unique in that it is not a listing site like Top Table but is designed to act as a bespoke app for each individual establishment."
Set up costs for the app start at £175 with £1 payable per order.
