Pubs are capitalising on royal-wedding fever with a range of imaginative food promotions.

London pub operators ETM Group and Renaissance have revealed their innovative proposals for the big day, on 29 April.

The first couple called William and Kate to present themselves at ETM's two pubs, the Botanist on London's Sloane Square and the Cadogan Arms on King's Road, will get a three-course "royal feast" and bottle of wine free. Proof of ID will be required.

The winners will have until 29 October to claim their prize, consisting of a three-course meal from the à la carte menu with a bottle of house wine.

Meanwhile, a Royal Memorabilia Swap Shop is planned for Renaissance's five pubs in the capital.

Customers who arrive between 12noon and 6pm on the wedding day will be able to swap their royal cutlery and crockery for food and drink.

A royal mug, tankard or glass can be swapped for a glass of house wine or pint of beer or cider. A main plate or silver spoon is worth a main dish up to the value of £12.

Duncan Jones, events manager at the Fox Revived in Charlwood, Surrey, is running a four-day fête, the Festival of Surrey Life, with a marquee in the pub grounds. The event is sponsored by Surrey Life magazine.

The festival will offer a range of activities including a barber-shop quartet, bird of prey show, magicians, archery and a helicopter flying show.

Jones said: "We're expecting to be busy so we'll keep the food simple: sausages, burgers and ice cream."
