The Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) has appointed new public affairs executive Carlo Gibbs.

The Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) has appointed new public affairs executive Carlo Gibbs.

Carlo Gibbs started the new role this week, which focuses on licensing and a range of initiatives to prevent the underage purchase and possession of alcohol.

He will also support the All Party Parliamentary Wine and Spirit Group.

Gibbs' experience includes working as public affairs consultant for Apex Communications and as a parliamentary researcher. He will take over from Sarah Davies who is joining a public affairs consultancy.

"I'm delighted to welcome Carlo to the team," said WSTA chief executive Jeremy Beadles.

"He brings with him some excellent sector experience from his previous role and I am confident he will be a real asset to the WSTA team.

"I'd like to thank Sarah Davis for her outstanding work over the past few years at the WSTA. She has worked tirelessly on issues affecting member companies, including most recently proposals to reform the licensing regime.

"I know she will be missed but we wish her well in her new role."
