Punch Taverns has become the first UK company to trial 3D projectors in its pubs.

It has signed an deal with manufacturer LG to trial the projectors. Up until now pubs have only been able to screen 3D via television sets.

The first pub to use the equipment will be the Raynes Park Tavern in South West London when it shows the Chelsea v Liverpool game on Sunday.

General manager Matt Dunne said: "The picture quality is amazing. Our guests are going to be the first in the country to have the opportunity to experience 3D football on this scale and I'm sure it's going to be a big hit."

Director of property for Punch Pub Company, Rob Godwin-Bratt, said: "We plan to trial the 3D projection system in several Punch pubs, and if the initial trials are a success, we may consider rolling the system out nationally."
