A couple of licensees have come to the rescue of a local school by setting up a classroom after burst pipes left it short of space.

Dave Hutton and his partner Jackie Dougray at the King's Head Inn, in Theddlethorpe, Lincolnshire, have converted two spare rooms into classrooms.

"At the moment it's a quiet time of year so it made sense to offer the rooms to the school," said Dave.

"The other day we had two regulars singing along to 'Wheels on the Bus' as they could hear it through the walls. It's a nice atmosphere and brings a bit of extra life into the pub."

The children, from Theddlethorpe Community Primary School, have classes all day but return to their school - just opposite the pub - for playtimes and assembly.

Head teacher Adrian Sanders said: "Dave and Jackie have been absolute diamonds, so accommodating and helpful - we're very grateful."

"The children are quite enjoying it, they see it as a bit of an adventure" he added.
