Thorley joins TDR Capital
Ex-Punch Taverns boss Giles Thorley is set to take up a role with the private equity firm TDR Capital, which backed the acquisition of 333 wet-led pubs under the Stonegate banner.
Thorley, who stepped down from Punch in March, will act as a senior consultant for TDR. The move was rumoured in November last year but Thorey said it was "premature" at that time.
Thorley will work alongside TDR's founders, Stephen Robertson and Manjit Dale, who backed Punch Taverns in the late 1990s when both men worked at DB Capital Partners.
However, he has maintained that he does not want to run pubs again. Thorley still serves as chairman of Cafe Rouge operator Tragus, as a non-executive director of TUI Travel and sits on the board of wholesaler Matthew Clark.
