Loungers to open two more Cosy Clubs
Multiple operator Loungers is set to open two more Cosy Club sites in Bath and Exeter, following its success in Taunton.
The company is aiming to have 40 sites open by the end of 2013 and the Cosy Club is a concept it has developed for smaller towns — it's less urban than its 14-strong Loungers café-bar concept.
Loungers founder Alex Reilley said he expected between eight and 12 of the planned 40 sites will be Cosy Clubs.
The Cosy Clubs have greater food and wine choices, a more premium spirits offer and takes reservations, unlike Loungers.
The main difference is in the design of the sites, which will Reilley describes as "quirky, eccentric and playful with a gents club meets village hall meets cricket pavilion feel".
He said: "There are a number of towns & cities in the region that we've always very keen on but that lack any secondary areas.
"We therefore found ourselves looking at more town centre locations and in looking at these primary locations we felt that the Lounge 'look' may be a bit too urbanised and we felt a fresh approach to the design and feel of any premises we opened in these locations was therefore in order.
"From this, and the nature of the building we took on in Taunton, the Cosy Club was born."
Next month, Loungers opens its 16th site — Pinto Lounge in Banbury and Loco Lounge in Kings Heath, Birmingham will follow in January.
The Company is also set to open another Lounge site in Southampton and another two sites in Bournemouth in 2011. Its current annual turnover is £11m.
