Real ale is enjoying a revival, a report reveals today, as younger drinkers and women embrace a drink which may be shedding its traditional "flat cap" image. Landlord Lee Hughes didn't have to go far to wet the baby's head after making a special delivery at his own pub. Mr Hughes's wife, Jonelle, 21, went into premature labour at the Red Hackle in Jarrow, Tyne & Wear. Budweiser, the most popular beer brand in America, is kicking off a massive promotional push with a nationwide giveaway of 500,000 free samples in US bars, pubs and restaurants in an effort to shore up an alarming erosion in sales. Owned by the Belgian multinational Anheuser-Busch InBev, Budweiser is struggling to attract younger drinkers who prefer low-calorie light beers or more exotically flavoured craft beers.
