A licensee appearance on TV show 'Deal or No Deal' has inspired her pubco to give customers 5,000 chances to beat the banker.

Linda Smithers, who runs Hall & Woodhouse pub the Vine in Tarring, West Worthing, is currently appearing on the Channel 4 show hosted by Noel Edmonds.

She will eventually be given the chance to win big money simply by opening boxes numbered from one to 22 which contain between 1p and £250,000.

And in support of her attempt Hall & Woodhouse are giving customers at the pub a chance to win too.

They have produced 5,000 envelopes which are being distributed throughout the town. Prizes inside include the obligatory 1p, a bag of crisps, food vouchers and polo shirts and a spa day.

And to top it all off the pub will be hosting a screening party on August 26 to see how Linda fares when she opens the boxes.

She said: "I am blown away by the support I have received from Hall & Woodhouse.

"They've really put themselves out for me, producing all the promotional materials and donating some prizes, but more importantly, gaining the support of the local community.

"I can't wait for the party night to welcome existing and new customers."

Money raised from the screening night will be donated to local causes.

Matt Kearsey, director of Hall & Woodhouse's Badger Pubs, said: "We're absolutely delighted to be supporting Linda through her 'Deal or No Deal' experience. It's been great fun and a fantastic way to engage with the local community."
