Devon pub offers £40 jacket potato
Gastropub the Cary Arms in Babbacombe, Devon, is offering a £40 baked potato on the menu called the "tuxedo of spuds".
The potato, devised by the MA's Great British Pub Food Awards 2010 poultry category winner Ben Kingdon, is filled with a creme fraiche, lemon, chive and spring onion filling, topped with Calvisius Caviar, served with a rocket and roasted vine tomato salad and accompanied by a chilled glass of Champagne.
The dish has been on the menu since last week and so far two have been sold.
It is available on both the lunch and dinner menu. A similar dish was featured on the menu at St James' Club resorts globally, which were formerly owned by the de Savary family, who bought the Cary Arms last year.
Cary Arm's marketing manager Jo Di-Carlo said: "The dish is quirky and different and luxurious, which is what our customers come here for. It is something different to offer people coming here."
The dish will be on the menu throughout the summer.
The site also offers a premium dog's dinner: a £5 all-you-can eat chicken and rice bowl for canine customers.
The de Savary family also acquired the Old Swan & Minster Mill on the river Windrush Witney, Oxfordshire in May. The site, which features 16 rooms is currently being refurbished.
