Hobgoblin sales soar after Presidential swap
Hobgoblin brewers are working overtime to meet increased demand after David Cameron gave Barack Obama a bottle of the beer.
The Prime Minister and US President swapped beers at the G20 Summit in Toronto, Canada. Cameron was given a bottle of Chicago's Goose Island 312.
The exchange followed a bet made between the two leaders about the outcome of England versus USA in the World Cup — it was a draw so both paid up.
Orders for Hobgoblin, brewed by the Marston's owned Wychwood Brewery have rocketed since the meeting with brewers having to pull double shifts to cope with demand.
"Orders have gone through the roof — we have always been extremely popular; the beer has a fanatical following, now drinkers on both sides of the Atlantic are starting to ask for Hobgoblin," said Wychwood head brewer Jeff Drew.
The meeting had sparked a series of viral ads created by Hobgoblin fans.
