A former director of a leisure property consultants has bought a stake in a popular London pub.

Retired director of Humberts Leisure Anthony Miller is one of four investors who have bought the freehold of the White Swan in Twickenham, previously owned by Enterprise Inns.

The pub has just re-opened following a major refurbishment of the trading areas. It now offers a range of real ales, national lagers and homecooked food.

Kris Gumbrell of Convivial Pub Company has been appointed to operate the pub under a management contract on behalf of the investors. Convivial owns eight freehold pubs in central London.

Gumbrell said: "We've made small changes to the interior design by focusing less on sport and more on the heritage of the area to broaden the client base.

"The pub has really benefited from having new owners who've lived locally for most of their lives. They have been able to garner support from the local community and understand what they want.

"The introduction of good wholesome food has generated between £3,000 and £4,000 per week in additional revenue which, from a standing point, normally takes considerably longer, and as a result the pub is far exceeding expectations."
