100 barstaff change their name to Wayne Rooney
Pubs have been pulling out the stops in their final preparations for the big World Cup kick-off in South Africa next week.
But one pub company has gone the extra mile - and asked 100 of its barstaff to change their names by deed poll to Wayne Rooney for the tournament.
Employees at Clover Taverns will adopt the star England striker's name, while the managers at the firm's 10 pubs will be renamed Fabio Capello.
"Our staff wanted to do something special for the World Cup to get our punters, and the community, excited for the team's campaign," said Clover Taverns' managing director, Andy Wilkinson.
"This will certainly get the banter flowing!"
