Cougar Leisure, the bar operator created when Herald Inns & Bars went into administration in 2008, is selling 11 of its properties for a total of £5.7m.

The sale, which is being handled by Christie + Co, sees a package of freehold and leasehold properties up for grabs, including Brannigans and Mood branded units, as well as a number of non-branded sites.

The properties are located across the UK, including London, Manchester, Blackpool and Edinburgh.

Simon Chaplin, a director at Christie, said the sites were established venues, "the majority of which are significant in size and located in prominent town and city centre locations.

"We therefore expect them to generate high levels of interest from national, regional and local operators plus local entrepreneurs."

Chorley-based Cougar Leisure emerged from the ashes of Herald Inns & Bars, the bar operator run by former Laurel Pub Company boss Julian Sargeson which went into administration in July 2008.

Sargeson took charge of Cougar after it took 21 former Herald sites off the company's then-administrators, Ernst & Young.
