Pubs can get customer feedback and benchmark their service against the industry with the new Livebookings Barometer.

The service reveals guest satisfaction across venues on a monthly basis.

Licensees can sign up for the service, which asks guests who booked online four questions about their experience vi a email.

The results are analysed and sent to each venue at the end of the month, allowing licensees to benchmark their performance against competitors and track and respond to customer comments. The service provides a response rates of 32%.

The Hanams Kurdish and Middle Eastern restaurant in Edinburgh has been successfully using the Barometer for two months.

"Until recently, the only feedback we got from customers tended to be immediately after or during service," said manager Lisa Ahmed.

"Livebookings Barometer has changed all of that — we can now track our service levels constantly and even compare where we are with regards to our competition."

Andris Berzins of Livebookings said: "Restaurateurs are fast realising that listening and responding to customer feedback is critical for getting guests to come back and spend again."

The basic service is free, with more detailed reports available for a small monthly fee. On a monthly basis, Livebookings Barometer will be revealing the state of the UK dining industry.
