David Bremner, former commercial operations director at Everards, is to join Cheshire brewer Frederic Robinsons in July.

For the past two years Bremner has worked for MDA, a Blackburn-based marketing agency with clients such as Marston's, Greene King and Pernod Ricard.

However he said he was "genuinely delighted" to be back working for a brewer and pub operator.

"Working project-to-project as I've been doing with MDA has been a lot of fun, but I'm really looking forward to working in the pub and brands areas again.

"Robinsons are pretty damn serious about taking their business forward for the next 20 years and there is a massive opportunity to help market their 400-odd pubs," he said.

Oliver Robinson, a director at the brewer, said: "We needed someone to bring our offer to life and deliver our ambition to evolve and meet the demands of the modern era.

"David will be responsible for all aspects of pub, brand and company marketing and will put together the relevant team to do this. His appointment is a key step in our plans to stand out as the leading brewer and pub operator in the North West."

Bremner, who played a key role in founding the 'Cyclops' beer tasting notes scheme while at Everards, said he has seen "what works and what doesn't work" in some of the biggest brands in the UK.

"I can work with suppliers to Robinsons with what we will need and at the same time understand the pressures they are under. It's going to be a great challenge," he added.

Bremner joins Robinsons on July 12.
