Pub ban woman back in court
A West Midlands woman, who became the first to get a nation-wide pub ban has appeared back in court on a drink-related charge.
Laura Hall, 20 was issued with a Drinking Banning Order by magistrates. It bans her from drinking or buying alcohol in pubs and nightclubs, or from purchasing alcohol in shops and off licences, across England and Wales for two years.
However, Hall was back in court yesterday and was ordered to pay £175 in fines and costs after pleading guilty to drunk and disorderly behaviour earlier this month in a nightclub.
District Judge Bruce Morgan said: "A female with a record like this — it's absolutely despicable and represents all that is rotten in society nowadays."
The Drink Banning Order, issued last week, could be lifted after one year if she completes a course, which is compulsory, to tackle her alcohol misuse.
Police applied for the DBO after Hall, formerly of the Stoke Heath area of Bromsgrove, was involved in "numerous" alcohol-related public order offences in and around the Bromsgrove area. She was already banned under the local pubwatch and BAND (Bromsgrove Against Night-time Disorder) schemes.
