A retired barrister is to open her fifth pub.

Maggie Van Hagen, along with her husband, Chris, are set to reopen former Punch pub the Manor Arms, in Burton, Hampshire, as the Manor after a major refurbishment, which has seen it converted into a family-friendly venue with an 11-bedroom hotel.

The couple also operate four pubs in Dorset: the Lamb at Winkton, Dukes and the Ship in Christchurch and Banksy's in Charminster.

The Manor will offer a quality carvery alongside other dishes, including

steak and pizza cooked in front of the customer in an open kitchen.

Van Hagen said: "The pubs we've bought have had dire trading figures when we've taken them over, but we like a challenge. And it's paying off. They're all doing really well. I think that's because we haven't followed a uniform theme."
