The head chef of a Cardiff pub has been crowned 2010's Face of British Pie Week, in association with Jus-Rol Professional.

Adam Pavey won the prize for his Wye Valley Pie, judged as "heaven in a pie" by the panel.

The Welsh-inspired pie contains chicken, asparagus and potato and is topped with a layer of creamy Tintern Abbey Cheese and puff pastry.

"I'm delighted the Wye Valley Pie won, it means so much to me that it's been recognised and I'm looking forward to showcasing it during British Pie Week," said Pavey.

Pavey received a £500 cheque, two personalised chef's jackets, a banner for the pub and a development day with a Jus-Rol Professional.

The four other finalists were a smoke fish cider pie by Martyn Scott from the Fisherman's Arms, Devon, a venison and stilton pie by Paul Davies from the Lamb Inn, Somerset, a fudgey apple pie by Karen Berg from the Heron Inn, Cornwall and a blue cow pie by Dan Tibbins from the Fountain Inn, Cornwall.

Each runner up received a personalised chef's jacket and a window sticker for their pub.
