Rates roadshows to answer your questions
Two big issues that could both impact massively on licensees' bottom lines during 2010 will be dealt with in a series of roadshows.
The Publican has teamed up with the BII, Punch Taverns and Carlsberg for 'A Seminar of Two Halves', which kicks-off later this month.
In the first half experts will give licensees the lowdown on the latest rateable values - which have left many pubs fearing they will face massive hikes in business rates over the next few years.
Experts from Fleurets or Robert Clarke will explain how rates work and reveal how licensees canl minimise their rates liability.
And in the second half Carlsberg will focus on the biggest sporting event on the year - the World Cup in South Africa.
The World Cup and How to Make the Most of it' will focus at creating the right atmosphere in your pub, efficient service, promoting the event and ensuring games are screened in the best possible manner.
BII chief executive Neil Robertson said: "BII is here to help licensees to build their businesses, save money and remain compliant. This level of support is typified by seminars such as these.
"We have created the 'Seminar of Two Halves' at the request of our members as part of the package of support on the important subject of rates.
"The World Cup element, delivered by Carlsberg, is an added bonus. Attendees will pick up some great tips on maximizing sales during the highlight of the football calendar."
Publican editor Caroline Nodder said: "We have been inundated with calls from licensees worried about receiving massively inflated rateable values.
"These seminars will help explain what the figures actually mean and what action can be taken to deal with them."
* Tickets for the roadshows are £10 each. To book a place call 01202 242714 or email regionalevents@bii.org
