The NHS has launched a free iPhone app to let people keep track of how much alcohol they are drinking. The new application was launched by Gillian Merron, public health minister, as the festive party season gets under way to help people keep track of their alcohol consumption. The device which can be downloaded onto smart phones like the iPhone, will allow users to see how many units of alcohol there are in their drink - The Telegraph

Pubs chain JD Wetherspoon is to create 10,000 jobs as it opens 250 new pubs. The group is to invest £250m on the new outlets over a five-year period.The expansion will open up management opportunities, as well as positions for bar and kitchen staff.
